POSITIONStaff Accountant (Tax / Regulatory Compliance)

JOB TYPE: W2 with NSC Global
START DATE: IMMEDIATELY

 

The US Tax accountant will assist in the daily operations of the Americas Accounting team.  Responsibilities include: preparing journal entries; account reconciliations and analysis; various tax filings and reconciliations; handling Secretary of State filings; special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Monthly preparation, review and analysis of assigned general ledger accounts.  Identify and resolve issues.
  • Sales tax return preparation and clerical filings for multiple states; manage sales tax audits; review online returns and payments data entry.
  • Work with accounts payable group for the proper reporting of State Use Tax
  • Unclaimed property filings; Secretary of State filings.
  • W-9 and 1099 forms
  • Assist with processing quarterly tax payments and work with external advisors on annual Federal returns.
  • Responsible for reconciliation and analysis of all sales tax related GL accounts.
  • Back-up for preparation of journal entries assigned to other Staff Accountants: including T&E, benefits expense/accruals, PTO accruals, payroll, etc.
  • Work with HR and Legal groups to ensure Workers Compensation compliance and actively participate in medical benefits renewal process.
  • Assist with certain monthly billing tasks.
  • Work with appointed accounting firms in Canada/Brazil/Mexico to ensure high quality reporting and compliance with local regulations.
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting Major Preferred)
  • 3-5 years accounting and tax experience required
  • Must have the ability to reconcile accounts and understand General Ledger transactions.
  • General knowledge of and experience with sales and use tax.
  • Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision preferred.
  • General knowledge of accounting principles and experience with month-end closing processes.
  • Knowledge of SOX requirements and be circumspect in working with confidential payroll information.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues.
  • Strong work ethic, results driven and commitment to meeting deadlines and achieving company and department goals.
  • Ability to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ability to successfully accomplish all responsibilities in a fast-paced, growing and demanding environment.
  • Ability to professionally interact with Team Members in various departments outside of Accounting (Sales, Billing, HR).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
