Overview

The Technician Business Analyst will play a crucial role in the discovery and analysis stage of an office re-IP project. This role requires expertise in Active Directory and basic networking to ensure accurate assessment and planning for the re-IP process. The Technician Business Analyst will work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand system dependencies, analyse current configurations, and design solutions that align with project goals.

 

NOTE: This is a 3-4 month position, only candidates who are available for short-term roles will be considered.

Responsibilities

  1. Discovery and Analysis:

   - Conduct detailed discovery sessions to understand the current IP addressing scheme, network topology and associated dependencies between all connected infrastructure.

   - Document existing network infrastructure, including devices, IP ranges, and subnet configurations.

   - Analyse current Active Directory configurations to identify dependencies and impacts related to the re-IP project (Domain Trusts, etc.)

  1. Requirements Gathering:

   - Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to gather and document requirements for the re-IP project.

   - Identify potential challenges and risks associated with the re-IP process and propose mitigation strategies.

  1. Technical Assessment:

   - Assess the impact of the re-IP project on all local and remote devices, on Active Directory, including user accounts, group policies, and access controls.

   - Evaluate local and remote devices and services to ensure compatibility with the new IP addressing scheme.

  1. Solution Design:

   - Develop technical specifications and design a re-IP plan that aligns with business and IT objectives.

   - Ensure that the proposed solutions adhere to IT best practices and standards.

  1. Communication and Coordination:

   - Facilitate meetings and workshops with stakeholders to discuss findings and proposed solutions.

   - Present technical information in a clear and concise manner to non-technical stakeholders.

  1. Documentation:

   - Create comprehensive documentation for the discovery and analysis phase, including current state assessments, requirements, and proposed solutions.

   - Maintain up-to-date records of all findings and decisions made during the discovery phase.

Qualifications

Experience:

- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a technical business analysis or similar role.

- Proven experience with on-premise Active Directory administration and basic networking.

Skills:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Basic understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and troubleshooting techniques.

- In-depth knowledge of Active Directory and related technologies.

- Proficiency in documentation and technical writing.

Competencies:

- Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of on-premise Active Directory and basic networking.

- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyse complex technical environments and develop effective solutions.

- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
